Ankara: US tariffs on Trkiye, which are at the lowest rate compared to other countries, are seen as positive, the Turkish vice president stated on Wednesday. Cevdet Yilmaz noted that there is a decline in commodity prices due to the tariffs, benefiting Trkiye, which is an importer country.

According to Anadolu Agency, Yilmaz emphasized that the current situation is advantageous for Trkiye. He mentioned at a news conference in Ankara that the country's trade volume with the US exceeds $32 billion, with an ambitious target of reaching $100 billion.

Yilmaz expressed optimism about future trade relations, indicating that Trkiye's minister of trade plans to meet with US counterparts. The goal of these discussions will be to address the recent developments and explore ways to intensify and increase the Trkiye-US trade volume.

US President Donald Trump announced new tariffs on April 2, setting the rate for Trkiye at 10%, while many other countries face higher rates, including China at 34% and the EU at 20%.
