Lyon-Angers Ligue 1 Match Rescheduled Due to Protests in France

Lyon:The Ligue 1 match between Olympique Lyonnais and Angers SCO has been postponed from Saturday to Sunday due to nationwide protests in France, as announced by the French Professional Football League (LFP) on Tuesday.

According to Anadolu Agency – English, the ninth-round fixture, initially set for October 31 at 8.45 pm local time (1945GMT), will now be held on November 1 at 5.15 pm (1615GMT). This change was made following a request from the Rhone Prefecture, as stated by the league.

The rescheduling aligns with further demonstrations planned across France on Saturday, which are in response to rising living costs and conditions in schools, increasing the demands on police and security forces. In addition to the Lyon-Angers match, two other Ligue 1 games originally set for Saturday have also been affected, with Nice-Rennes moved to Friday, October 30, and Lorient-Brest delayed to Monday, November 2.

Last Saturday, October 24, saw hundreds of thousands of people demonstrating across France. The current changes follow the postponement of Paris Saint-Germain's home match against Lyon from Sunday to Monday due to security concerns related to the protests.
