Muscat: Danish shipping giant Maersk announced on Monday that Oman's Port of Salalah will gradually resume operations starting March 31 following a security incident that had previously disrupted activities at the facility.

According to Anadolu Agency, Maersk provided a customer advisory stating that the affected area at the port was limited. The advisory detailed that steps would be taken to restore the port to full capacity as operations restart. However, the company cautioned that some operational constraints might persist during the recovery process.

Maersk also mentioned that additional precautionary security measures have been implemented at the port. The company assured that it remains in contact with relevant authorities and port stakeholders to ensure safety and efficiency in operations. Furthermore, Maersk expressed gratitude to its customers for their understanding and promised continuous updates on developments in the Middle East through a dedicated information page.

The Oman News Agency reported, citing a security source, that on March 28, two drones targeted Salalah Port, resulting in injuries to one worker and causing limited damage to a crane.
