Kuala Lumpur: Malaysia has announced plans to resume the search for Malaysia Airlines Flight 370, which disappeared in 2014 with 239 passengers and crew on board.

According to Anadolu Agency, the Malaysian Cabinet has agreed to the terms and conditions of a new agreement with Ocean Infinity, a marine robotics company based in the UK. The company will be tasked with exploring a designated area in the southern Indian Ocean in hopes of locating the missing aircraft.

Malaysia's Transport Minister Anthony Loke Siew Fook affirmed the nation's commitment to restarting the search operation. The Ministry of Transport will formalize the agreement with Ocean Infinity following the Cabinet's approval.

The search is set to cover approximately 15,000 square kilometers. Ocean Infinity will receive a $70 million reward if they succeed in locating the wreckage. The company previously conducted a search for Flight MH370 in 2018, but the operation concluded without finding the aircraft.
