Malaysian Premier Hails ‘Capacity, Strength’ of Trkiye’s Industry in Science, Technology

Ankara: Malaysian Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim on Wednesday praised the "capacity and strength" of Trkiye's industry, science, and technology during a joint news conference with Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan. Anwar highlighted the robust relations between Ankara and Kuala Lumpur, emphasizing the mutual trust and belief in Trkiye's capabilities that have fostered such ties.

According to Anadolu Agency - English, Anwar noted that Malaysia has greatly benefited from defense industry collaborations with Trkiye, particularly in naval and aerospace sectors. He expressed confidence that reaching a $10 billion trade volume between the two nations is a realistic goal, citing Malaysia's rapid growth in semiconductors, AI, data centers, and emerging technologies like rare earth.

Furthermore, Anwar acknowledged Erdogan's leadership, appreciating his efforts not only for Trkiye but for the global community, particularly the Muslim world. Anwar referenced Erdogan's comments on Gaza, criticizing the global political landscape for its moral and ethical shortcomings, and underscored the need for a conscientious leadership to address ongoing injustices.

The Malaysian leader is visiting Trkiye from Jan. 6 to 8 at Erdogan's invitation.
