Bamako: Malian forces "neutralized" around a dozen terrorists Sunday during an operation between Bambara-Maoude and Inadjatafane in the Douentza region, the army said in a statement.

According to Anadolu Agency, the statement did not identify the groups targeted. The Malian Armed Forces, known by its French acronym FAMa, emphasized their commitment to ensuring the protection and free movement of people and their property.

Mali has faced persistent insecurity for more than a decade, particularly in its central and northern regions. Armed groups linked to militant organizations and local conflicts have carried out attacks against security forces and civilians, posing ongoing challenges to stability.

The army regularly announces counterterrorism operations in its efforts to reassert control over territory. These operations aim to curb the activities of armed groups, especially in strategic areas near key population centers and along the Niger River corridor.
