Strait of hormuz: Maritime traffic through the Strait of Hormuz experienced a noticeable decline over the weekend, with confirmed vessel crossings dropping from 15 on Friday to 11 on Saturday and only six on Sunday.

According to Anadolu Agency, a total of 32 vessels transited the strategic waterway between August 7 and 9. The routing remained concentrated, including 17 movements through the Iranian Unilateral Scheme and 10 classified as route undetermined, as reported by maritime tracker MarineTraffic on Monday.

In contrast, the Bab el-Mandeb Strait saw substantially higher activity, registering 116 confirmed crossings during the same period. Daily vessel movements through Bab el-Mandeb remained relatively stable, with 43 transits on Friday, 37 on Saturday, and 36 on Sunday.

Despite the higher activity, concerns over AIS visibility persisted along the route, with operators logging 12 dark transits over the weekend. Notably, Saturday saw increased risk activity in the waterway, including 10 sanctioned crossings and eight dark transits.
