Chisinau:Moldova's President Maia Sandu announced on Saturday that five Russian aerial weapons, including Banderol missiles and drones, breached the nation€š¬…¡¬‚¬¦¡¬‚¬Å¡¬¦¡¬‚¬Å¡¬€¦¡¬¦¡¬‚¬Å¡¬€¦¡¬€š¬¦¡¬¦¡¬€š¬…¡¬‚¬¦¡¬‚¬Å¡¬¦¡¬‚¬Å¡¬€¦¡¬¦¡¬‚¬Å¡¬€¦¡¬€š¬¦¡¬¦¾¢s airspace and detonated on its territory.
According to Anadolu Agency, President Sandu expressed concerns over Russia's ongoing assaults on Ukraine, stating that they are "dangerously reaching Moldova." She emphasized the need for Moscow to be halted to prevent risks to lives across Europe.
Moldova's Foreign Ministry issued a strong condemnation of the airspace breach, noting that drone fragments were discovered in several locations, including outside Causeni near Dubovca, between Delacau and Puhaceni, and near Crocmaz, where the incident sparked a vegetation fire and caused property damage. The ministry highlighted that Russia's actions against Ukraine continue to threaten Moldova and regional security.
Moscow has not yet responded to Moldova's claims. However, on Thursday, Moldova's Foreign Ministry summoned the Russian ambassador to Chisinau, presenting a protest note after three drones violated the country's airspace in one day. The ministry reported that two drones crashed and exploded on Moldovan soil, marking a total of eight airspace violations within a week.
Russian Ambassador to Moldova, Oleg Ozerov, accused Chisinau of disregarding Moscow's offers to jointly investigate the drone incidents. He stated to the state-run news agency Tass that Russia had yet to receive evidence proving the drones' origin was Russian, expressing frustration over what he termed as "unsubstantiated accusations."
In recent months, several European countries have raised concerns about alleged Russian drone incursions into their airspace, which Moscow has consistently denied.
