MPs Haris Georgiades and Chrysis Pantelides in Vienna for anti-Semitism Conference

A delegation of the House of Representatives, comprising the Chairman of the Committee on Foreign and European Affairs, Haris Georgiades and the member of the Committee, Chrysis Pantelides, will attend a Conference on Anti-Semitism "Never again: Democracy cannot tolerate anti-Semitism, hosted by the Parliament of Austria in Vienna, under the auspices of the President of the National Council of Austria Wolfgang Sobotka, on September 10 and 11, 2024. According to a House press release, the Conference will be attended by Presidents and members of Parliament of various countries, officials of the European Union, experts, researchers, academics and representatives of the Mass Media. The purpose of the Conference, as noted, is to create a parliamentary network to combat anti-Semitism, in light of its alarming escalation, following the terrorist attack by Hamas in Israel on October 7, 2023. The issues that will be discussed in the context of three thematic sections of the Conference are the prevention of anti-Se mitism and the safeguarding of democratic principles, the current situation of the Jewish communities in Europe and the flare-up in the Middle East.
