Antalya:The 77th International Astronautical Congress, taking place in Antalya, features NASA's Artemis II findings and AI applications for Mars missions as key topics on its third day.
According to Anadolu Agency, NASA will present a comprehensive collection of preliminary lunar science findings from Artemis II, including data, images, and audio. This session is scheduled for the afternoon. Earlier, NASA Deputy Administrator Matt Anderson and Maj. Gen. Roberto Melgar Sheen from Peru's space agency will brief the media following the Artemis Accords Principals' Meeting, co-hosted by the US and Peru.
NASA researcher Steve Chien will discuss the role of artificial intelligence in Mars missions. The congress will also review Europe's future exploration plans and examine orbital infrastructure developments beyond the International Space Station.
Turkey's first lunar mission will be highlighted with TUBITAK UZAY's presentation on the Lunar Water Lifecycle Observatory, set to launch in early 2027 to study lunar water processes.
A session on space governance will explore Hong Kong's contributions to the space sector, including governance, research, and commercialization. Additionally, the IAF and JAXA are expected to sign an agreement announcing Japan as the host of the 2028 Global Space Exploration Conference.
Other congress sessions will cover nuclear propulsion, planetary defense, and satellite resources in disaster response. The IAC, hosted by the Turkish Space Agency and co-hosted by SAHA Istanbul, gathers space leaders from over 100 countries.
