Nablus: Nearly 100 Palestinians were detained by the Israeli army on Wednesday during extensive arrest operations conducted across several northern West Bank cities. Witnesses reported that Israeli forces carried out raids in Nablus, Salfit, and multiple towns in Jenin, Tulkarem, and Qalqilya, in addition to Jericho and two towns in occupied East Jerusalem.

According to Anadolu Agency, the arrests included 50 Palestinians in Nablus, 15 in Salfit, 13 in Jericho, and 20 others in East Jerusalem. Some of those detained were released following field interrogations. Notably, among the detainees in Jenin was Nasser Al-Din Al-Shaer, who previously served as the Deputy Prime Minister of the Palestinian National Authority and as Minister of Education and Higher Education from 2006 to 2007. Al-Shaer was released after several hours of field interrogation.

The Israeli army's operations have intensified in the West Bank since the onset of the Gaza war in October 2023. Reports indicate that at least 1,092 Palestinians have been killed and nearly 11,000 injured due to attacks by both the army and illegal Israeli settlers in the West Bank since October 2023. Furthermore, over 21,000 individuals have been arrested in this period.

In a significant ruling from July of the previous year, the International Court of Justice deemed Israel's occupation of Palestinian territory illegal, calling for the removal of all settlements in the West Bank and East Jerusalem.
