Tibet: Nearly 1,000 people were stranded on the Tibetan side of Mount Everest after a sudden blizzard blocked access roads and collapsed tents over the weekend, Chinese state media reported Sunday. Local authorities launched a large-scale rescue effort in response to the severe weather conditions.
According to Anadolu Agency, hundreds of villagers and emergency workers were dispatched to the area to clear heavy snow at an altitude above 4,900 meters (16,000 feet). The sudden storm, which began on Friday evening and continued through Saturday, created perilous conditions by dumping deep snow across the region.
Officials reported that some campers exhibited signs of hypothermia following the blizzard's onslaught. The rescue teams are working tirelessly to ensure the safety and well-being of those affected by the unexpected weather event.
