Jerusalem:Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu's political bloc is leading the election count with a projected 57 seats out of the 120-member Knesset, but remains four seats short of achieving a governing majority. This assessment comes as nearly 42% of the votes have been counted.
According to Anadolu Agency – English, the opposition bloc led by Gadi Eisenkot is projected to secure 47 seats. Meanwhile, the predominantly Arab Joint List and Ra'am parties are expected to win the remaining 16 seats, based on reports from the Central Elections Committee.
Neither of the major political blocs is anticipated to reach the 61 seats necessary for a parliamentary majority. The Arab parties could play a crucial role in the formation of the government, as their combined 16 seats would provide Eisenkot's bloc with a majority of 63 if they decide to offer their support.
Among the individual parties, Netanyahu's Likud is leading with a projected 28 seats, while Eisenkot's Yashar is expected to secure 21 seats. The predominantly Arab Joint List is projected to win 12 seats, followed by the Together party with 11. Both United Torah Judaism and Yisrael Beiteinu are each projected to obtain eight seats. The Democrats, Religious Zionism-Zehut alliance, Otzma Yehudit, and Shas are each expected to win seven seats, while Ra'am is projected to secure four seats.
These figures are provisional and subject to change as the vote counting process continues.
