Baghdad: A new drone attack targeted the US Embassy in Iraq's capital, Baghdad, amid ongoing regional escalation, according to an Anadolu correspondent. The attack occurred just hours after the embassy compound was targeted by a previous assault with three explosive-laden drones, which resulted in a fire near the embassy complex.

According to Anadolu Agency, the air defense systems at the US Embassy were able to intercept two of the drones mid-air. However, the third drone managed to strike an outer wall of the embassy, leading to a fire. This incident marks a continuation of escalating tensions in the region.

A group identifying itself as the Islamic Resistance in Iraq has claimed responsibility for 21 rocket and drone attacks against US bases in Iraq and the region within just one day. This surge in attacks aligns with increased hostilities following the US and Israel's joint offensive on Iran, initiated on February 28. The offensive has reportedly resulted in the deaths of over 1,200 people, including Iran's Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei.

In response to these offensives, Tehran has launched drone and missile strikes targeting Israel, Jordan, Iraq, and several Gulf countries. Iran claims these attacks are aimed at 'US military assets,' resulting in casualties, infrastructural damage, and significant disruptions to global markets and aviation.
