Trkiye's new Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan continued to receive congratulatory phone calls from his counterparts around the world after his appointment, diplomatic sources said on Sunday.

Indonesia's Foreign Minister Retno Marsudi and Yemeni Foreign Minister Ahmed Awad Bin Mubarak congratulated Fidan on assuming office, the sources said.

Fidan took charge from his predecessor, Mevlut Cavusoglu, earlier this week. He was the chief of Trkiye's National Intelligence Organization (MIT) for 13 years.
