Washington: US President Donald Trump announced that no American official will attend the upcoming G20 Summit in South Africa, citing alleged human rights abuses against the Afrikaner population in the country.

According to Anadolu Agency, Trump expressed his concerns in a post on his social media platform, Truth Social, criticizing South Africa for what he described as the 'killing and slaughter' of Afrikaners, who are descendants of Dutch, French, and German settlers. He also condemned the 'illegal confiscation' of their farms and land.

Trump stated, "It is a total disgrace that the G20 will be held in South Africa," emphasizing that no US Government Official will participate as long as these alleged human rights abuses persist. He further revealed his aspirations to host the 2026 G20 Summit in Miami, indicating his desire to bring the international gathering to the US if he remains in office.

The remarks from Trump come at a time of increased focus on the summit, which South Africa is set to host from November 22 to 23, as part of its rotating presidency of the world's largest economies.
