Nottingham:Nottingham Forest Noni Madueke emerged as the hero for Arsenal by scoring a late goal, leading to a 1-0 victory against Nottingham Forest in the seventh matchday of the English Premier League. Despite facing difficulties in creating scoring opportunities, Arsenal managed to secure three points on Sunday.
According to Anadolu Agency, Arsenal had the majority of possession in the first half but struggled to penetrate Forest's solid defense, resulting in no shots on target for either side before halftime.
Forest showed early promise with Dan Ndoye's threat in the 19th minute, followed by Murillo's near miss from a corner. Arsenal's Kai Havertz missed a crucial chance in the 37th minute when he headed Declan Rice's free-kick over the bar.
Arsenal's manager, Mikel Arteta, made a strategic change at halftime by bringing on Madueke to replace Eberechi Eze. Despite this, Forest began the second half with increased energy. Arsenal's best chance came in the 72nd minute, but Declan Rice's shot soared over the bar from inside the penalty area after receiving a pass from Jurrien Timber.
The visitors intensified their efforts towards the end of the match, finally succeeding in the 80th minute. Madueke dribbled past Daniel Munoz and scored with a shot that deflected off Jair Cunha, evading goalkeeper Matz Sels.
Nottingham Forest almost leveled the score during stoppage time. Murillo's attempt went just over the crossbar, and Ezri Konsa executed a critical tackle to prevent Liam Delap from scoring in a one-on-one encounter with Arsenal's goalkeeper, David Raya.
Madueke's decisive goal was Arsenal's only shot on target in the match, but it was enough to secure a hard-earned victory. This win propelled Arsenal to second place in the league standings with 18 points, trailing three points behind leaders Manchester City. Meanwhile, Nottingham Forest remained in the relegation zone, positioned 18th with five points.
