Ankara: North Korea on Monday strongly condemned US airstrikes on Iranian nuclear sites as a grave violation of a sovereign state's security interests and territorial rights, state media reported.

According to Anadolu Agency, the US and Israel are identified as the culprits behind the current tensions in the Middle East, which are attributed to Tel Aviv's "ceaseless war moves and territorial expansion" reportedly accepted and encouraged by the West. The Korean Central News Agency, citing the Foreign Ministry, relayed this message in their report.

A statement from a Foreign Ministry spokesperson denounced the US attack on Iran, emphasizing that it severely violated the UN Charter's principles of respect for sovereignty and non-interference in internal affairs. The statement highlighted that the territorial integrity and security interests of a sovereign state were violently compromised.

The Foreign Ministry's statement further elaborated on the situation in the Middle East, attributing it to the actions of Israel, which is accused of promoting its interests through war moves and territorial expansion. The statement criticized the Western-style order for tolerating and encouraging these actions.

The statement expressed concerns over the aggravation of tensions in the Middle East by Israel and the US, which are seen as causing serious global security consequences under the guise of "peacekeeping" and "threat removal." The statement called for the international community to voice unanimous censure and rejection against the confrontational acts of the US and Israel.

US President Donald Trump announced on Sunday that American forces had bombed Iran's Fordo, Natanz, and Isfahan nuclear sites. This attack marked the latest escalation in a US-backed Israeli military assault on Iran since June 13, which led Tehran to launch retaliatory attacks on Israel.
