Pyongyang: North Korean leader Kim Jong Un met with visiting Laotian President Thongloun Sisoulith in Pyongyang, pledging to strengthen the traditional friendship and cooperation between their countries. The meeting took place on Tuesday, as reported by the state-run Korean Central News Agency (KCNA) on Wednesday.

According to Anadolu Agency, President Thongloun arrived in the North Korean capital to participate in events celebrating the 80th founding anniversary of the Workers' Party of Korea. A grand welcome ceremony was organized in his honor, featuring a 21-gun salute. Kim personally greeted the Laotian president, accompanied by senior officials and enthusiastic crowds.

Kim stated that Thongloun's visit was a testament to the Lao People's Revolutionary Party and its people's strong support for the Democratic People's Republic of Korea. In return, President Thongloun reaffirmed Laos' commitment to fostering deeper ties of friendship and cooperation with North Korea.

During their discussions, the two leaders shared insights on their respective experiences in party and state-building. They also explored avenues for expanding cooperation, aligning with the aspirations of their peoples.
