Pyongyang: North Korean leader Kim Jong Un inaugurated a major hydropower project and a new hospital in back-to-back ceremonies, state media reported. Addressing the inauguration ceremony of the army-people power station at Hoeyang county of Kangwon province, Kim termed the development a "huge" step in exploiting and enlisting the hydraulic resources to solve the local electricity problem, the Korean Central News Agency reported.
According to Anadolu Agency, Kim described the hydropower project as a "valuable asset" that will benefit future generations through a "resolute and uninterrupted struggle with ennobling consciousness and steadfast will to defend the country, their motherland." He emphasized that the project will play an important role in expanding the development of the region, serving as a "great encouragement" for further advancement.
In his remarks at the opening ceremony of Kangdong County Hospital in the suburbs of capital Pyongyang, Kim highlighted that the healthcare facility is the first among modern regional hospitals. He commended the rapid completion of the construction work in just 280 days, noting that such a precedent "cannot be found in our proud history of construction." Kim also mentioned that the country aims to have six modern medical facilities by the end of the year, including Pyongyang General Hospital.
