Norwegian Flight Diverted Following Drone Sighting

Oslo: A Norwegian airline flight was diverted late Sunday after a drone sighting, marking the second such incident in a week following a previous airspace shutdown at Oslo airport.

According to Anadolu Agency, the flight from Oslo to Bardufoss in northern Troms county had to return after the drone was spotted. Press officer Eivind Hammer Myhre at Norwegian confirmed the sighting to broadcaster NRK, and authorities have been notified. The drones are reportedly no longer visible.

Earlier on Sunday, other drones were observed near an airport in Nordland county, leading to the diversion of a plane to an alternative airport. On Monday morning, police confirmed the sighting of two drones, although there are currently no suspects in the case.

The Oslo airport had previously closed its airspace for three hours last week due to a similar drone sighting. Multiple European Union states, including Poland, Romania, Latvia, Estonia, Norway, and Denmark, have reported recent airspace violations or disruptions by drones, some of which have been confirmed to be of Russian origin.
