Kerrville: Nearly 100 people previously reported missing after catastrophic flash flooding in central Texas have been found safe, leaving just three still unaccounted for as the search for victims enters its third week, Kerr County officials announced. The update significantly reduces the list of missing, which had peaked at over 160 following the July 4th floods that swept through Texas Hill Country.

According to Anadolu Agency, this progress reflects the coordinated search and rescue operations, investigative work, and commitment to families during this difficult time. Kerrville City Manager Dalton Rice noted the efforts in a statement shared on social media, emphasizing the dedication involved in bringing clarity and hope to affected families.

As of Sunday, the death toll in Kerr County alone reached 107, including 70 adults and 37 children. This marks one of the deadliest natural disasters in the region's history. Statewide, at least 135 people have died due to the flooding, which saw the Guadalupe River surge 26 feet, destroying cabins, camps, and entire communities.

One of the hardest-hit sites was Camp Mystic, a historic Christian summer camp for girls, where at least 27 campers and counselors perished. Recovery efforts remain intense, with over 1,000 personnel from local, state, and federal agencies, supported by volunteers, searching the river corridor from its headwaters to Canyon Lake.

Kerrville Mayor Joe Herring Jr. expressed thoughts for the families still awaiting news, reaffirming the commitment to stand with them as efforts continue.
