Paris: Annual consumer inflation in the Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development (OECD) area remained stable at 4.7% in December, as reported in the latest data release on Wednesday.

According to Anadolu Agency, food inflation in the OECD area slightly decreased to 4.3% in December. However, the annual increase in energy prices accelerated to 3.8% from 1.3% in November, based on information from the Paris-based organization.

Core inflation, which excludes the more volatile food and energy prices, saw a minor decrease to 4.9% in December from 5% in the previous month. The report noted, "The increase in OECD energy inflation was offset somewhat by a marginal decline in OECD core inflation."

Throughout 2024, annual OECD inflation decreased by 1.6 percentage points to 5.2%. The data also showed that last year, OECD food and core inflation were 4.6% and 5.7%, respectively, while energy inflation averaged 0.6% across OECD countries.
