Erbil: Oil and gas production across northern Iraq's Kurdish region has been completely halted following attacks on energy infrastructure, the regional government said Sunday. In a statement, the Kurdish Regional Government's Ministry of Natural Resources confirmed that all oil and gas fields, refineries, and energy facilities in the region had been targeted by 'outlaw militias.'

According to Anadolu Agency, these 'terrorist attacks' have led to a complete suspension of production, preventing any quantities of oil from being available for export. The Ministry of Natural Resources criticized the central government in Baghdad, highlighting the lack of effective measures to deter the attacks or prevent them from reoccurring.

The regional government has expressed dissatisfaction, noting the absence of any concrete or deterrent steps taken to halt these 'blatant attacks.' The tensions in the region have escalated since Israel and the US launched attacks against Iran on February 28, resulting in the death of over 1,200 people, including then-Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei.

In retaliation, Iran has carried out drone and missile strikes targeting Israel, as well as Jordan, Iraq, and Gulf countries, claiming these attacks were directed at 'US military assets.'
