Ramallah: Over 150 Palestinian students and school staff have been killed by Israeli army fire in the occupied West Bank since October 2023, according to the Education Ministry's statement on Tuesday. The ministry reported that 147 students and five education staff members lost their lives in attacks by the Israeli army, with 1,050 others sustaining injuries during the same period.

According to Anadolu Agency, the statement also highlighted that Israeli army forces detained 1,039 students and staff members in raids conducted across the occupied territory over the past two years. The ministry further detailed that two schools were destroyed in the West Bank, and several educational facilities and universities were raided since October 2023.

Tensions have intensified in the West Bank following the commencement of the Israeli genocidal war on Gaza. Official Palestinian figures indicate that at least 1,048 Palestinians have been killed, and around 10,300 injured in the West Bank since October 2023. The ongoing conflict has resulted in more than 67,000 deaths in Gaza since late 2023.

Israel's long-standing occupation of Palestinian territories, as well as parts of Syria and Lebanon, continues amidst international calls for withdrawal and the establishment of an independent Palestinian state with East Jerusalem as its capital, based on pre-1967 borders.
