Odesa: Ukraine reported that an overnight Russian drone attack on the southwestern port city of Odesa resulted in at least two fatalities and 15 injuries. The attack, which damaged residential buildings, private houses, a supermarket, a school, and cars, was confirmed by Ukraine's State Emergency Service on Telegram.

According to Anadolu Agency, the State Emergency Service highlighted that fires erupted in areas impacted by the drone strikes but were swiftly extinguished. More than 200 residents were evacuated from one of the affected high-rise buildings. Odesa Governor Oleh Kiper stated that medical teams were actively providing necessary assistance to those affected by the attack. He further mentioned that efforts to mitigate the aftermath of the strike were ongoing, with tents being set up for additional support.

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy addressed the situation on X, criticizing Russia for ignoring a US proposal for a comprehensive ceasefire for over 50 days. He noted that Ukraine's own peace proposals were met with further shelling and assaults. Zelenskyy emphasized the need for strong diplomatic efforts and continued pressure on Russia to bring about negotiations. He called for more effective sanctions and highlighted the importance of strengthening Ukraine's defense capabilities to save lives and secure lasting peace.

Ukraine's Air Force reported that its air defenses successfully intercepted at least 74 out of 170 drones launched by Russia in the overnight attack, with the Kharkiv, Sumy, Donetsk, and Kyiv regions also being targeted. Russian authorities have yet to respond to these claims, and independent verification remains challenging due to the ongoing conflict, now in its fourth year.
