Pakistan Demands End to Israeli Actions in Occupied West Bank

Pakistan: Pakistan on Monday demanded an end to the impunity of Israel, rejecting Tel Aviv's decision to turn occupied West Bank areas into 'state property.'

According to Anadolu Agency, Pakistan's Foreign Ministry strongly condemned the Israeli occupying power's attempt to convert areas of the Occupied West Bank into 'state property' and expand illegal settlement activities. This statement followed the Israeli government's approval of a proposal to register large areas of the occupied territory as 'state property,' marking a significant development since Israel's occupation of the territory in 1967.

Islamabad emphasized that these actions are in violation of international law and relevant UN resolutions, urging the international community to reject them. The statement highlighted how Israel's actions undermine prospects for a just and lasting peace in the region.

Pakistan called on the international community to take measures to end Israeli impunity and ensure respect for international law. This comes amidst intensified Israeli operations in the West Bank and East Jerusalem since a military campaign in Gaza began on October 8, 2023. Palestinians view these escalations as steps toward formal annexation.

In a significant development, the International Court of Justice declared in July 2024 that Israel's occupation of Palestinian territory is illegal, calling for the evacuation of all settlements in the West Bank and East Jerusalem.
