Islamabad: Pakistan's top diplomat on Thursday emphasized that regional connectivity is crucial for stability and shared progress, highlighting the need for enhanced cooperation among neighboring countries.

According to Anadolu Agency, Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar addressed the opening session of a two-day Regional Transport Ministers Conference in Islamabad. He stated that regional cooperation has a direct impact on the lives of millions across the wider region. Dar remarked, "Your presence here demonstrates our shared commitment to advancing connectivity, fostering collaboration, and achieving shared prosperity." He further stressed that in today's world, regional connectivity is indispensable for stability, growth, and shared progress.

The conference is attended by transport ministers from countries including Trkiye, Saudi Arabia, Azerbaijan, Uzbekistan, Kazakhstan, Iran, Belarus, Turkmenistan, Sri Lanka, and the Maldives. Additionally, representatives from the United Nations, Asian Development Bank, and Economic Cooperation Organization are participating in the event.

Dar highlighted the rapid development of trade routes, pipelines, and transport corridors that are increasingly linking Asia's economies. He described the multi-billion-dollar China-Pakistan Economic Corridor as a transformative project, positioning Pakistan as a natural hub for regional connectivity.

He also mentioned significant transport initiatives such as the Uzbekistan-Afghanistan-Pakistan Railway Framework Agreement and the Istanbul-Tehran-Islamabad corridor. These projects provide cost-effective land bridges across Europe, Central Asia, and South Asia.

Furthermore, Dar reiterated Pakistan's dedication to energy cooperation through projects like CASA-1000 and the Turkmenistan-Afghanistan-Pakistan (TAP 500) electricity transmission line, which aim to enhance energy security and bolster economic growth.
