Ankara: Pakistan's president and prime minister vowed to overcome challenges and obstacles while marking the 85th Independence Day resolution on Sunday. The day commemorates the Lahore Resolution, passed in 1940, which outlined the demand for a separate homeland for the Muslims of the Sub-continent.

According to Anadolu Agency, Pakistan's President Ali Zardari congratulated the nation on "Pakistan Day," while acknowledging that the country faces "significant political, economic, and security challenges." Zardari emphasized Pakistan's potential to navigate complex realities, tackle economic pressures, and pursue sustainable development, ensuring the nation emerges stronger.

In his statement, Zardari called for a focus on strengthening national security, revitalizing the economy, advancing agriculture, ensuring energy security, and creating opportunities for youth. He also highlighted the importance of investing in healthcare and social welfare to ensure no Pakistani is left behind.

The president reiterated Pakistan's commitment to building "stronger relationships" with neighbors and the global community. He also expressed Islamabad's "steadfast support" for Jammu, Kashmir, and Palestine, urging the international community to take "immediate and decisive steps to ensure the implementation of UN Security Council resolutions" to allow the people to determine their own futures.

Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif echoed the president's sentiments, emphasizing that Pakistan can overcome the challenges facing the country. Sharif stated, "No challenge is insurmountable, no adversity too great, if we stand united in our purpose and committed to our ideals. With determination, hard work, and a shared vision, we will continue to build a stronger, more prosperous, and progressive Pakistan."
