United nations: The Palestinian representative at the United Nations has called on the Security Council to move beyond traditional condemnations and take concrete actions to enforce international law in the occupied West Bank. Riyad Mansour, speaking at a high-level briefing, emphasized the urgency of the situation and the need for the international community to reconsider its approach.
According to Anadolu Agency, Mansour criticized the current state of international responses, which he described as "business as usual." He stressed that Israel's ongoing objective is to seize as much Palestinian land as possible while minimizing the presence of Palestinians. Mansour highlighted the dire consequences of the occupation, including the uprooting of families and the confinement of Palestine to limited territories.
He further emphasized the need for the full implementation of the 20-point peace plan proposed by US President Donald Trump, urging the Security Council to act decisively. Mansour warned that annexation is not a distant threat but a current reality that requires immediate intervention.
The United States reiterated its opposition to the annexation of the occupied West Bank, while acknowledging the Israeli government's recent efforts to address violence. The American envoy emphasized the importance of comprehensive reforms by the Palestinian Authority and noted the significant progress made by Hamas in committing to disarmament.
International voices also expressed alarm over the fragmentation of Palestinian territory. Somalia highlighted the displacement of over 33,000 Palestinians, while the United Kingdom opposed the reintroduction of the "E1" settlement project. Pakistan and France raised concerns about projects undermining territorial contiguity and the stagnant American peace plan, respectively.
Russia noted the tragic toll of violence in Gaza, and Liberia warned that the current trajectory threatens the viability of the two-state solution. The calls for action reflect a growing consensus on the need for the Security Council to address the situation more effectively.
