New york: The Palestinian ambassador to the UN urged the international community to take decisive steps against Israel, emphasizing that mere words are insufficient to halt the ongoing genocide. Riyad Mansour, speaking at an emergency UN Security Council meeting, underscored the necessity for condemnation to evolve into tangible action.

According to Anadolu Agency, Mansour highlighted that Israel has consistently disregarded the UN Charter, international law, and council resolutions when they are not backed by consequences. He asserted that Israel's indifference to verbal reprimands necessitates immediate, substantive measures from the global community. Mansour called on nations to recognize Palestinian statehood, warning that without such actions, discussions are futile and ineffective.

Mansour criticized the global response to Israel's actions as inadequate and failing to match the severity of the crimes committed. He emphasized the dire situation of over 2 million Palestinians living in unbearable conditions and urged immediate action to prevent further genocide. He further accused Israel of aiming to block Palestinian statehood by rejecting the New York Declaration on the two-state solution, rather than solely targeting Hamas rule.

Mansour advocated for Chapter 7 enforcement under the UN Charter to strip Israel of its capability to continue its military aggression. He also promoted the New York Declaration, co-chaired by Saudi Arabia and France, encouraging non-signatory countries to support the two-state solution initiative.

Recently, Israel's Security Cabinet approved Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu's plan to fully occupy Gaza and relocate Palestinians from the north to the south, amidst growing international backlash against its military actions in Gaza. The conflict has resulted in over 61,000 Palestinian deaths since October 2023, pushing the enclave towards a humanitarian catastrophe.

Additionally, the International Criminal Court issued arrest warrants for Netanyahu and former Defense Minister Yoav Gallant for alleged war crimes in Gaza. Israel is also facing a genocide case at the International Court of Justice concerning its military actions in the region.
