Al-ram: A Palestinian man was injured by Israeli gunfire on Monday in the town of Al-Ram, north of occupied East Jerusalem, according to medics. The incident highlights the ongoing tensions in the region, particularly at the separation wall that divides East Jerusalem and the West Bank.

According to Anadolu Agency, the Palestine Red Crescent Society reported that its teams provided medical aid to a 43-year-old Palestinian who was shot by Israeli forces near the separation wall in Al-Ram. Following initial treatment, the injured man was transferred to a hospital in Ramallah for further care. Details regarding the cause of the shooting were not disclosed.

The Israeli army has been known to target Palestinian workers who attempt to bypass the separation wall to seek employment within Israel. The wall, which encloses East Jerusalem, is primarily constructed on West Bank land and is topped with barbed wire. It reaches heights of over eight meters and spans more than 200 kilometers, as reported by the Israeli human rights organization B'Tselem.

This shooting incident occurred in the context of heightened violence and increasing arrests by the Israeli army and illegal settlers against Palestinians in the occupied West Bank. The Colonization and Wall Resistance Commission has documented over 7,000 attacks by illegal Israeli settlers on Palestinians and their property since Israel initiated its war on Gaza in October 2023.

Palestinian records indicate that over 1,073 Palestinians have been killed and 10,700 others injured since the conflict's escalation. In a significant ruling last July, the International Court of Justice deemed Israel's occupation of Palestinian territory illegal and demanded the evacuation of all settlements in the West Bank and East Jerusalem.
