Gaza city: The Israeli army killed one Palestinian on Monday in the northern Gaza Strip and struck several locations in the south, in the latest violation of a ceasefire deal, medical sources said. The sources reported that a Palestinian lost his life to gunfire from a quadcopter drone in the Zeitoun neighborhood, southeast of Gaza City.

According to Anadolu Agency, residents stated that Israeli artillery heavily bombarded the eastern parts of Rafah, with columns of smoke rising from the bombed areas. They also noted that Israeli helicopters unleashed intense gunfire on eastern Khan Younis. There was no immediate report of casualties from these attacks.

The Gaza Government Media Office has disclosed that at least 357 Palestinians have been killed and 903 others injured by army fire since the ceasefire took effect on Oct. 10. The ceasefire deal, mediated by Trkiye, Egypt, and Qatar, with backing from the US, aimed to halt two years of Israeli attacks that have resulted in the deaths of more than 70,000 people, mostly women and children, and injuries to over 170,000 others since October 2023.

Phase one of the ceasefire deal includes the release of Israeli hostages in exchange for Palestinian prisoners. The plan also envisages the rebuilding of Gaza and the establishment of a new governing mechanism without Hamas.
