Nablus: Israeli army forces killed a Palestinian in a military raid in the northern West Bank on Tuesday, the Health Ministry said. A ministry statement noted that Abdulkarim Suleiman, 28, was shot and killed by Israeli forces in Aqraba, south of Nablus.
According to Anadolu Agency, Aqraba Mayor Salah Abu Shahada reported that Israeli forces raided the town's Al-Dayriya area at dawn, surrounding a house with an entire family inside. The family members were removed, but the father refused to leave, leading the army to bring in military reinforcements and impose a cordon. The forces fired a shell at the house, causing parts of it to collapse. Gunfire and explosions were heard during the siege, which lasted several hours. Israeli forces later informed the Palestinian side of Suleiman's death and that his body was being withheld.
In Tulkarem, Palestinian Red Crescent teams recovered the body of Asaad Maliha, a Palestinian from the Gaza Strip, from the Tulkarem Central Zakat Committee headquarters following an Israeli raid. Local sources reported that Israeli forces stormed the premises, expelled Palestinians from Gaza, arrested several residents, and damaged the building. Stun grenades and tear gas were used against journalists covering the incident.
Further south in the West Bank, Israeli forces demolished homes, sheep barns, water sources, and solar-energy units in Khirbet al-Fakhit, south of Hebron. Local council head Nidal Younis stated that the demolitions targeted essential daily life infrastructure. Families were not given enough time to remove belongings before the demolitions, which Younis said are part of a policy to displace Palestinians from Masafer Yatta. This was the second village to face demolition in the area within a week.
Separately in Burqa, northwest of Nablus, Deputy Village Council head Mahmoud Shabib described attacks by Israeli occupiers on Palestinians. Six vehicles were targeted with attempts to set them on fire, though residents managed to save five. Israeli soldiers arrived and assaulted several Palestinians. Shabib highlighted a water crisis in Burqa, with supplies reaching some areas only once every 15 to 20 days.
The occupied West Bank has witnessed a continued Israeli military escalation, including raids, arrests, and demolitions, alongside rising attacks since the start of Israel's war on the Gaza Strip in October 2023.
