Ramallah: A Palestinian man was beaten to death by Israeli army forces in the occupied West Bank on Wednesday, according to medics.

According to Anadolu Agency, the Palestinian Red Crescent Society (PRCS) stated that its teams received the body of a 57-year-old man in Ramallah from the Israeli side after he sustained a fatal head injury. The incident occurred as the man, originally from the town of Zababdeh, south of Jenin in the northern West Bank, was reportedly beaten while crossing an Israeli separation wall to reach his work inside Israel.

Witnesses have corroborated that the man was attacked by Israeli forces during this crossing. The separation wall was erected by Tel Aviv in 2002, with the stated aim of addressing security concerns. However, in 2004, the International Court of Justice issued an advisory opinion that declared the barrier illegal and in violation of international law.

The Israeli army has been known to regularly assault Palestinian civilians who approach the barrier, an action that human rights groups have condemned, referring to the structure as an 'apartheid wall.' The ongoing conflict and the existence of the wall have continued to escalate tensions in the region.

Palestinian figures indicate that since the commencement of the Israeli war on Gaza in October 2023, more than 1,051 people have been killed in the West Bank. Additionally, around 10,300 individuals have been wounded, and over 20,000 have been arrested, including 1,600 children.
