Khartoum: The paramilitary Rapid Support Forces (RSF) announced that it had concluded the initial questioning and investigation of a commander accused of killing hundreds of civilians in El-Fasher, a city in western Sudan.

According to Anadolu Agency, the RSF issued a statement revealing that an inquiry commission dedicated to investigating human rights violations in El-Fasher had interrogated the commander known as Abu Lulu. The statement assured that the commission would disclose the full facts to the public and submit a comprehensive report to judicial authorities once all stages of the investigation are finalized.

Abu Lulu, whose real name is Al-Fateh Abdullah Idris, was seen in multiple social media videos shooting civilians at close range in North Darfur state's capital, which the rebel group seized late last month. In these latest acts of violence in El-Fasher, he boasted about killing thousands and recording mass civilian killings, which he confessed to during a live broadcast.

During a TikTok live stream, Abu Lulu stated, "I wanted to kill 2,000, but I'm sure the number exceeded 2,000, but I got confused about the calculation." He further added, "I lost track of it, but I will do it again starting from zero," while other RSF militants were seen laughing alongside him. His remarks ignited global outrage, leading to the TikTok account being banned for violating community guidelines.

Since April 15, 2023, the Sudanese army and the RSF have been engaged in a conflict that has so far eluded resolution through regional and international mediation efforts. The ongoing war has resulted in the deaths of thousands and the displacement of millions.
