Yerevan: Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan announced that Azerbaijan has transferred four individuals to Armenia via the border shared by the two South Caucasus nations. The individuals, identified as Gevorg Sujyan, Davit Davtyan, Viken Euljekjian, and Vagif Khachatryan, were handed over at the Hakari Bridge by Azerbaijani authorities to their Armenian counterparts, as confirmed by Pashinyan on Facebook.

According to Anadolu Agency, Pashinyan stated that Sujyan, Davtyan, and Euljekjian showed no health issues upon preliminary examination, while Khachatryan's condition was initially assessed as satisfactory. The four individuals are currently being transported to Armenia's capital, Yerevan.

Azerbaijan has not yet issued a comment on this development. However, the Baku-based APA news agency reported that the handover was conducted as part of a bilateral agreement between Azerbaijan and Armenia, aligning with humanitarian principles. The agency noted that the individuals had been convicted under various articles of Azerbaijan's criminal code and were serving sentences. It described the transfer as a practical outcome of the peace established between Baku and Yerevan.

The APA report further detailed that the rights of the individuals were upheld during their detention in Azerbaijan, with health and detention conditions meeting international standards. The individuals underwent medical examinations before their transfer to Armenia, confirming their normal health conditions. Vagif Khachatryan, whose health was not satisfactory, received necessary medical assistance and was under constant medical supervision.

In August, Azerbaijan and Armenia signed a declaration at the White House, alongside US President Donald Trump, to conclude decades of conflict, with commitments to cease hostilities, reopen transport routes, and normalize relations.
