Washington: The Pentagon is preparing military options for a “final blow” in the Iran conflict, involving the use of ground forces and massive bombing, according to a report by Axios, citing two US officials and two sources with knowledge of the matter.

According to Anadolu Agency, the report suggests a “dramatic military escalation” is anticipated if there is no progress in talks between Tehran and Washington. The strategic plans include options like invading key islands such as Kharg, Larak, Abu Musa, and others. Additionally, a blockade of ships carrying Iranian oil east of the Strait of Hormuz is also being considered.

The report highlights that some US officials believe that a “show of overwhelming force” could potentially end the conflicts and provide the US with greater leverage in negotiations. A source familiar with the ongoing negotiation efforts indicated that Trkiye, Pakistan, and Egypt are actively attempting to organize talks between the parties involved.

The source further noted that while Iran has rejected the US’ initial demands, it has not completely withdrawn from the negotiation process. Despite these developments, US President Donald Trump has reportedly not made a decision on any of the proposed scenarios. White House officials view any potential ground operations as “hypothetical” at this stage.
