Philippine, Myanmar Foreign Ministers Discuss Humanitarian Aid Expansion

Manila:Philippine Foreign Secretary Theresa Lazaro and Myanmar Foreign Minister U Tin Maung Swe recently held discussions focusing on the humanitarian situation in Myanmar.

According to Anadolu Agency – English, the ministers explored ways to enhance aid delivery to affected and hard-to-reach areas and discussed the implementation of the Five-Point Consensus (5PC). This consensus is considered the primary framework by the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) for addressing the ongoing crisis in Myanmar, urging an immediate cessation of violence and promoting dialogue among conflicting parties.

The meeting was part of a two-day humanitarian visit by Lazaro to Myanmar, which concluded with a symbolic handover of a reconstructed monastery in Pyinmana Township. The visit underscores the Philippines' active role in the region as it currently holds the ASEAN chairmanship.
