Pope Leo XIV to Visit Trkiye and Lebanon in First Overseas Journey

Vatican city: Pope Leo XIV will embark on his inaugural trip abroad, visiting Trkiye and Lebanon next month, Vatican News announced on Tuesday.

According to Anadolu Agency, the Director of the Holy See Press Office, Matteo Bruni, confirmed the pope's itinerary, which includes a stay in Trkiye from November 27 to 30, followed by a visit to Lebanon until December 2.

The visit marks Pope Leo's first journey outside Italy since his papal appointment. In Trkiye, the pontiff will visit Iznik, historically known as Nicaea, to commemorate the 1,700th anniversary of the Council of Nicaea. This council was a significant event in early Christianity, where essential doctrines such as the nature of Jesus and his relation to God the Father were established.

Details of the pope's itinerary in Lebanon are expected to be released in the coming weeks, as the Vatican prepares for this significant international visit.
