President of the Republic Nikos Christodoulides has congratulated Demis Hassabis on his Nobel Prize in Chemistry. "It is with great pride that I was informed that our compatriot of Cypriot descent Demis Hassabis has been awarded the Nobel Prize in Chemistry by the Royal Swedish Academy of Sciences" the President wrote on his account on 'X'. He noted that Demis Hassabis, "artificial intelligence researcher, neuroscientist, becomes the second compatriot to be awarded a Nobel Prize, after Christoforos Pissarides who was awarded the Nobel Prize in Economics in 2010". "I warmly congratulate Demis Hassabis and his family on this enormous global scientific recognition that he achieved, the result of many years of effort and dedication" he concluded.
