Ankara: Dozens of demonstrations unfolded across northern Israel on Saturday, as citizens took to the streets to voice their opposition to Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu's government and its contentious judicial overhaul.

According to Anadolu Agency, the protests were reported by Israeli media, highlighting widespread gatherings in numerous locations. The Maariv newspaper noted that demonstrators assembled at dozens of sites to express their disapproval of the government's policies and the proposed changes to the judicial system. Channel 12 reported protests in various areas, including Nahariya, Rosh Pina, Karmiel, Hadera, and Haifa.

Netanyahu's government initiated the judicial overhaul in early 2023, aiming to reduce the Supreme Court's powers and increase political control over judicial appointments. This move has sparked ongoing mass protests. Opposition parties and segments of the Israeli public have also demanded a state commission of inquiry into perceived failures related to the October 2023 attacks by the Palestinian resistance group Hamas, a call that Netanyahu's government has rejected.

In addition to the political unrest, Netanyahu is currently facing trial on corruption charges. The International Criminal Court issued an arrest warrant for him in November 2024, accusing him of war crimes and crimes against humanity in the Gaza Strip.

Since October 2023, the conflict in Gaza has resulted in the deaths of at least 73,651 Palestinians and injuries to 174,575 individuals, as reported by the Gaza Health Ministry.
