Paris:Paris Saint-Germain's Ligue 1 home match against Olympique Lyonnais has been rescheduled due to security concerns linked to planned protests in Paris. Initially set for Sunday, the match will now take place on Monday at the Parc des Princes.
According to Anadolu Agency – English, the French Professional Football League (LFP) announced the change, citing an order from the Paris Police Prefecture. The fixture, originally planned for Sunday, Oct. 25, at 8.45 pm local time, will be held on Monday, Oct. 26, at 8.30 pm.
The LFP explained that the new schedule was coordinated with broadcaster Ligue 1+, which will provide live coverage of the match. This decision aligns with efforts to manage police resources effectively, as an NFL game is also set for Sunday at the Stade de France.
The match between Ligue 1 leaders Lyon and second-place PSG comes amid ongoing demonstrations in Paris. The city is on alert following recent protests that escalated into rioting and looting. Additionally, Monday's Ballon d'Or ceremony in London, featuring several PSG nominees, adds further significance to the event.
