Paris: Defending champions Paris Saint-Germain claimed their first Ligue 1 victory of the season with a 1-0 away win over Brest on Sunday, with Matvey Safonov making key saves to protect Ferran Torres' early goal.

According to Anadolu Agency, Torres scored the only goal of the match in the fifth minute as PSG, who entered Matchday 4 with just two points, held off an improved Brest side after the break. The visitors made an early breakthrough when Ousmane Dembele flicked Joao Neves' pass into the path of Torres, who struck from distance and guided the ball into the bottom corner.

PSG took their narrow advantage into halftime before Brest emerged as the more threatening side after the restart. The hosts came close to equalizing in the 50th minute when Kamory Doumbia capitalized on a defensive error and beat Safonov, only for his effort to strike the post.

PSG had the ball in the net two minutes later when Brest defender Bradley Locko turned Khvicha Kvaratskhelia's cross into his own goal, but it was disallowed for a push by Warren Zaire-Emery. Brest continued to threaten, with Safonov producing an important save to deny Doumbia's header in the 56th minute.

PSG had an opportunity to put the game beyond the hosts in the 71st minute, but Neves was denied on the goal line by goalkeeper Egil Selvik. Brest pushed for an equalizer late on, but Safonov kept out Pathe Mboup's effort in the 88th minute as PSG protected their slender advantage.

The defending champions held on to move to five points from four matches and secure their first league victory of the campaign.
