New delhi: Russian President Vladimir Putin asserted that the West is attempting to reclaim its global dominance through any means necessary, including methods he described as unsavory.

According to Anadolu Agency, Putin made these remarks during a BRICS Business Forum panel in New Delhi. He highlighted that the path to corporate success involves rigorous daily efforts amidst fierce competition. Putin criticized Western competitors for allegedly trying to restore their previous leadership status by any means, despite the often-repeated notion that competition is a 'sacred cow' that should remain untouchable.

Putin further elaborated that such competition sometimes manifests in unsavory forms, even extending to state-level actions. He cited measures such as direct physical actions against industrial and logistical infrastructures as examples. Putin also pointed to attempts at obstructing international transport routes, seizing maritime vessels, and imposing illegal restrictions. He mentioned that these actions are accompanied by threats of secondary sanctions against those who choose to defend their own interests rather than aligning with external demands.

The Russian president noted that over 30,000 sanctions have been levied against Russia, asserting that this number is nearly double that of all other countries combined. Despite these challenges, Putin emphasized that Russia has strengthened its national sovereignty and is fostering relationships with dependable partners. He affirmed BRICS' willingness to cooperate with all partners.

Putin arrived in India for a three-day visit, where he will participate in the 18th BRICS summit, scheduled for Saturday and Sunday.
