Putin Aide Indicates Potential Progress in Russia-Ukraine War Settlement

St. Petersburg:Russian presidential aide Yury Ushakov announced on Wednesday that the ongoing conflict in Ukraine is progressing towards a potential settlement, though he noted uncertainties remain regarding how close an agreement might be.

According to Anadolu Agency – English, Ushakov commented that while it is uncertain exactly how near the resolution is, developments are moving in a favorable direction. His remarks were made in response to a question from the Vesti news outlet about the proximity of concluding the over-four-year war in Ukraine.

Ushakov's statements were made following a meeting between Russian President Vladimir Putin and US Special Envoy Steve Witkoff in St. Petersburg. During this meeting, Putin reportedly expressed Moscow's readiness "in principle" to resume trilateral talks with Ukraine around November 10, focusing on establishing a post-war security system for both Moscow and Kyiv.

Earlier this year, Moscow and Kyiv participated in US-mediated peace negotiations, which included three rounds of talks. These discussions took place on January 23-24, February 4-5, and February 17-18, with the first two rounds held in Abu Dhabi and the third in Geneva.
