Moscow: Ties between Russia and the Republic of Congo have 'good prospects' for development, President Vladimir Putin said as he met his Congolese counterpart Denis Sassou Nguesso in Moscow. 'We have good prospects for developing our relations, and in various areas,' Putin remarked during the opening of the meeting.
According to Anadolu Agency, Putin expressed confidence that Nguesso's visit to Russia will contribute to the development of bilateral relations. He noted that the prospects in the economic sphere include geological exploration, energy, logistics, and agriculture. Putin emphasized that Russian companies are eager to work in the Congolese market due to the stable political situation in the Central African country, which creates 'good business prospects.'
The Russian president also took the opportunity to congratulate Nguesso on his re-election for a fifth term last month. Nguesso, in turn, stated that the purpose of his visit to Moscow is to strengthen bilateral relations. He highlighted that Moscow and Brazzaville have 'all the conditions in place' for successfully implementing joint projects.
Nguesso further elaborated that they are exploring new projects that can be developed with the support of the Russian Federation. He noted that their ties have been developing 'for many decades' across multiple areas, including security, defense, and the economy.
