Moscow: Russian President Vladimir Putin has informed North Korean leader Kim Jong Un about his forthcoming summit with US President Donald Trump, which is set to take place in Alaska later this week. The announcement was made during a phone call between the two leaders, as stated by the Kremlin on Tuesday.

According to Anadolu Agency, the Kremlin released a statement indicating that Putin shared details with Kim Jong Un regarding the anticipated talks with President Trump. Additionally, Putin conveyed his gratitude for Pyongyang's support as Russia aimed to reclaim the Kursk border region from Kyiv following an incursion in August 2024. The Russian President also praised the 'courage, heroism, and dedication' demonstrated by North Korean soldiers during these events.

The upcoming summit in Alaska, scheduled for Friday, marks the first in-person meeting between a sitting Russian President and a US President since June 2021, when Putin met with then-US President Joe Biden in Geneva, Switzerland. The primary focus of the summit will be on exploring solutions to end the ongoing Russia-Ukraine conflict, which has persisted for nearly three and a half years.
