Moscow: Russian President Vladimir Putin's discussions with US envoys Steve Witkoff and Jared Kushner were described as 'substantive, constructive and extremely frank,' according to Kremlin aide Yury Ushakov on Sunday. The talks, which took place in Moscow on Saturday, lasted over three hours and addressed the Ukraine war as well as potential major Russian-US projects.

According to Anadolu Agency, Ushakov stated that Putin reaffirmed Russia's willingness to engage with the US in seeking a political and diplomatic resolution to the Ukraine conflict. The Russian President emphasized the importance of addressing the 'root causes' of the war and discussed the battlefield progress of Russian forces, expressing confidence in achieving Moscow's objectives.

The US envoys presented several ideas on possible solutions to the conflict, pledging to consider Putin's evaluations in their subsequent discussions in Kyiv, Ushakov reported. Additionally, Ushakov noted that Putin and Trump would maintain personal communication, with ongoing talks facilitated by the US negotiating team.

Following the meeting, Witkoff and Kushner departed Moscow and are scheduled to visit Kyiv on Sunday. A White House official informed Axios that the envoys' meeting with Putin aimed to further US President Donald Trump's initiatives to resolve the prolonged war.

The discussions were attended by officials from the National Security Council, and the State and Treasury departments, focusing on proposals to end the conflict. The official mentioned that the two sides deliberated on 'substantive plans' for forthcoming actions, anticipated to be revealed in the coming weeks. The US delegation expressed anticipation for 'equally productive' meetings in Ukraine.
