Doha: Qatar announced that negotiations between Iran and Oman concerning the Strait of Hormuz have reached 'an advanced stage,' with hopes that the strategic waterway will reopen 'as soon as possible.' During a press conference, Foreign Ministry spokesman Majed al-Ansari emphasized Qatar's support for efforts aimed at reducing regional tensions.

According to Anadolu Agency, al-Ansari remarked that the discussions were at a 'critical juncture' and reiterated Doha's commitment to mediating and facilitating a resolution. He highlighted the importance of the Strait of Hormuz and Qatar's close monitoring of the situation, expressing optimism that diplomatic efforts would soon lead to an agreement.

Iran and Oman have been engaged in negotiations over legal and technical arrangements for the strait following disruptions in maritime traffic due to a military conflict between Iran and the US. Tehran has conditioned the reopening on resolving disputes related to alleged US violations of a memorandum of understanding established in June.
